The Upper PRO Dovetail has a center mounting slot (the factory one does not). This enables you to mount it centrally right over the camera handle instead of having to offset it laterally like you are forced to with the factory version. This provides a stiffer connection in that situation.

The Upper PRO Dovetail has a centrally located front and rear 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 mounting holes that can be used to mount cinetape/rangefinders or in the rear counterweights and accessories. This is a vital need to securely mount these and other professional accessories.
